On 2 December 2020, Russian Agricultural Bank (RusAg, the Bank) and the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce – ICC Russia held a joint online conference on “Agribusiness and International Trade: Export Opportunities in 2021”. The experts discussed trends that ensure the development of exports of agricultural products.

“The agricultural industry was one of the few to see growth during this challenging time. However, in terms of exports, agricultural enterprises, especially those related to small and medium-sized businesses, still need support. This applies not only to financial resources. Knowledge in the field of foreign economic activity, an understanding of the complex processes of international trade and the opportunities provided by existing trade finance instruments are very important. For over a century, the International Chamber of Commerce – the World Business Organization (ICC) has been a recognized leader in the development of unified rules and standards for international trade. ICC Russia is ready to provide this unique expertise to Russian exporters and importers so that they can increase their competitiveness and efficiency“, said Tatiana Monaghan, ICC Russia Secretary General.

During the conference, experts talked about financial instruments to support existing Russian exporters and develop export opportunities for Russian manufacturers. Within the framework of the expert sessions, the issues of currency regulation of export activities of companies were also considered and the judicial and arbitration practice of resolving disputes on foreign trade contracts of agricultural producers was analyzed.
“The pandemic has had a significant impact on many sectors of the economy. Under the influence of restrictive measures, standards and rules of world trade are changing, and production, logistics, and retail models are being transformed. In the new conditions, it is particularly important for participants in external economic activity to understand the changes that have occurred and find optimal solutions for banking services. Within the framework of individual and “package” solutions, the Bank can offer a full range of products and services used in international trade“, noted Dmitry Mushkov, Deputy Head of Global Markets Operations Support at RusAg.

The event also discussed changes in the conditions of state support for industrial enterprises, the development of logistics support for the export of agricultural products, methods for preparing foreign trade contracts, features of certification of agricultural products and a number of other topics.
